2017 Clark University (USA) Scholarships for International Undergraduate Students
Applications are invited for
the 2017 Clark University (USA) Scholarships for International Undergraduate
Students. These are merit scholarships for high school students. Clark
University Scholarships are open to international students to pursue
an undergraduate programme
SCHOLARSHIP DESCRIPTION: Clark University is an
American private research university located in Worcester, Massachusetts, the
second largest city in New England. It is adjacent to University Park and is an
hour west of Boston. The aim of the Clark University Scholarships is to help
pay for the cost of undergraduate education at Clark University. Scholarships
are awarded to study the subjects offered by the university
ELIGIBILITY: To be
eligible, a student must be a first-year applicant (not a transfer student) who
has attended school overseas for at least four years. Clark also will consider
international citizens attending school in the United States. Applicants must
have high school degree and may choose to submit the following:

SAT/ACT scores
(Clark doesn’t require these scores). If they choose to submit scores, use
these school codes:

CEEB (SAT): 003279
Ø
ACT: 1808
Ø
CSS Profile (only
if student is applying for need-based financial assistance). If they choose to
submit a profile, use the school code 3279.
To apply for
admission, the student must submit at least one of the following.
Ø
ETS (TOEFL) school
code is 3279. Our CEEB (SAT) school code is 003279. Our ACT school code is 1808
Ø A total score of 75 or higher on the TOEFL iBT, with a
score of 15 or higher on every section
Ø An overall band score of 6.5 or higher on the IELTS,
with a score of 6.0 or higher on every section
Ø A score of 600 or higher on the SAT Critical Reading
section (offered before March 2016)
Ø A score of 650 or higher on the SAT Evidence-Based
Reading and Writing section (offered beginning in March 2016)
Ø
A score of 26 or
higher on the ACT Reading section
VALUE CRITERIA
FOR THE DIFFERENT SCHOLARSHIPS: Presidential LEEP Scholarship
Ø
Free tuition, room
and board for four years: Student’s annual scholarship renewal would be
contingent on your maintaining a strong academic record at Clark for each of
your four years as an undergraduate
Ø A free master’s degree, if applicable: If the student
is interested and they meet certain eligibility requirements for Clark’s
Accelerated B.A./Master’s Degree Program — you can complete a master’s degree
as a fifth-year student, completely tuition-free
Ø A significant, funded research project: Before
graduation, you’ll complete a LEEP Project, demonstrating mastery of the five
LEEP learning outcomes, including the ability to integrate skills and knowledge
and to solve complex problems through creative thinking, collaboration and
persistence. The student will receive stipends to complete your LEEP Project
Ø A circle of support: At Clark, the student will be
surrounded by people eager to help them apply their talents, including faculty,
alumni, career advisers and business and community leaders. With the guidance
and mentorship of experts, they will design an ambitious academic track that
includes interdisciplinary courses, internships, research projects and study
abroad experiences
Ø Transformative internship experiences: Student will
work in Communities of Effective Practice — multigenerational,
interdisciplinary groups — on a particular task or topic, such as assisting in
consultations with local entrepreneurs, helping analyse the results of a
psychology study or collecting field-based data on climate change
Ø
A community that
cares about the world: Clark graduates are known for changing the lives of
others. The student will collaborate with and be inspired by students, faculty,
administrators, alumni and industry professionals who are as passionate as you
are about creating a more just, equitable and sustainable world
Global Scholars Program Scholarship
Ø
Ø Receive a guaranteed $2,500 taxable stipend for a paid
internship or research assistantship taken for academic credit during the
summer following your sophomore or junior year
Ø
Participate in the
Global Scholars Mentor Program, including an annual buffet dinner hosted by the
president of Clark University. You will be assigned to a faculty adviser, as
well as receive guidance from staff or alumni leadership mentors.
International Traina Scholarship
Ø
Awarded to
exceptional incoming students who have proven through work in high school, as
well as overall application strength, that they are ready to perform at the
highest level when they enrol at Clark
Ø $80,000, four-year award ($20,000 per year), regardless
of a family’s financial need
Ø Does not require a separate scholarship application
Ø
To maintain the scholarship,
a student must meet year-to-year continuation requirements; these requirements
are included with the student’s admission and awards letter.
International Achievement Scholarship
Ø
Awarded to
accomplished incoming students who have demonstrated very strong academic
potential through work in high school and overall application strength
Ø $60,000, four-year award ($15,000 per year), regardless
of a family’s financial need
Ø Does not require a separate scholarship application
Ø
To maintain the
scholarship, a student must meet year-to-year continuation requirements; these
requirements are included with the student’s admission and awards letter
International Jonas Clark Scholarship
Ø
Awarded to
incoming students who have demonstrated good academic potential through work in
high school and overall application strength
Ø $40,000, four-year award ($10,000 per year), regardless
of a family’s financial need
Ø Does not require a separate scholarship application
Ø
To maintain the
scholarship, a student must meet year-to-year continuation requirements; these
requirements are included with the student’s admission and awards letter
HOW TO APPLY: Presidential
LEEP Scholarship and Global Scholars Program Scholarship require separate
applications; however, the rest of our merit scholarships do not. To apply,
you’ll need to submit the following:
Ø
First-year Common
Application
Ø Secondary School Report: Student’s school official will
submit the Common Application’s Secondary School Report along with an official
high school transcript, which will give us a picture of your academic career
Ø Teacher evaluation form from a teacher in a traditional
academic area such as mathematics, science, foreign language, English, social
science or academic elective
Ø Application fee of $60 through the Common Application
website, or a fee waiver
Ø Proof of English proficiency
Ø Results from any national examinations (e.g., A levels,
GCSE, WASSCE, CBSE, ISCE, CXC, CAPE, etc.)
