a Scholarship award is one of the ways to survive on campus. However, scholarships are awarded with some
criteria such as academic excellence, financial status, country of origin, etc.
Victoria University is offering scholarships for domestic and international
students to study in Australia. These scholarships are available for graduate
researchers undertaking a research project at the university

Victoria
University has world-leading researchers available to supervise successful
graduate research scholarship applicants to become the next generation of
research-qualified professionals. Victoria University (VU) is a Technical and
Further Education (TAFE) based in Melbourne, Australia. It is a dual-sector
tertiary institution providing courses in both higher education and Technical
and Further Education (TAFE)
VU has the following Research Focus Areas: Applied Informatics,
Creative Arts & Writing, Diversity, Communities & Wellbeing, Education
& Lifelong Learning, Food Sciences & Nutrition, Health &
Biomedicine, Sport, exercise Science & Active Living, Strategic Economics
& Finance, Supply Chain & Logistics and Sustainability & Innovation
There are different scholarships at Victoria University and
there are eligibility criteria for each;
Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA): To be eligible for an APA, applicants must:
Ø Be
Australian citizens or have been granted permanent resident status (This
includes New Zealand citizens who are granted permanent residency status on
arrival)
Ø Have
completed at least four years of tertiary education studies at a high level of
achievement
Ø Have
achieved First Class Honours or equivalent results (80% or higher on VU Grading
Scale)
Ø Be undertaking
a Masters by Research or Doctoral research degree in 2017
Ø Enrol as
a full-time student (Part-time awards may be available for compelling social or
medical reasons)
Ø Have
their enrolment into the proposed degree approved by Victoria University Postgraduate
Research Scholarships (VUPRS)
VU Postgraduate Research Scholarship (VUPRS): To be eligible for a VU Postgraduate
Research Scholarship, applicants must:
Ø Be
Australian citizens or have been granted permanent resident status (This
includes New Zealand citizens who are granted permanent residency status on
arrival)
Ø Have
completed a four-year undergraduate degree, or equivalent
Ø Be
undertaking a Masters by Research or Doctoral research degree in 2016
Ø Enrol as
a full-time student (Part-time awards may be available for compelling social or
medical reasons)
Victoria University Diversity Scholarship (VU Diversity
Scholarship): To be
eligible for a Diversity Scholarship, applicants must:
Ø Be
Australian citizens, or have been granted permanent resident status (This
includes New Zealand citizens who are granted permanent residency status on
arrival)
Ø Can
provide evidence that you have experienced one or more of the following that
have disrupted or adversely affected your studies:
ü Traumatic
events beyond your control
ü Significant
illness and/or disability
ü Socioeconomic
and/or family circumstances
ü Have
completed a four-year undergraduate degree, or equivalent
ü Be
undertaking a Masters by Research or Doctoral research degree in 2017
ü Enrol as
a full-time student (Part-time awards may be available for compelling social or
medical reasons)
ü Have had
their enrolment into the proposed degree approved by the institution
International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) and
Victoria University International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (VUIPRS): To be eligible for an IPRS and VUIPRS,
applicants must:
Ø
Be a citizen of any country other than Australia or New Zealand
Ø Have
completed a four-year undergraduate degree, or equivalent
Ø Meet the
University’s academic entrance requirements for enrolment into a research
degree
Ø Meet the
University’s English language proficiency requirements for enrolment in a
research degree
Ø Be
commencing a Masters by Research or Doctoral degree in 2017
Ø Enrol as
a full-time student
Ø
Priority will be given to applicants who pursue a program of
study in one of Victoria University’s areas of research focus
College Admission Requirement
Entrance
Requirement:
Ø All
Ph.D., Professional Doctorate and Masters by Research applicants must meet the
University’s minimum academic entry requirement of a 70% (Distinction VU
standard) average in the most relevant qualifying degree
Ø To be
considered for a graduate research scholarships in what is always a highly
competitive process, applicants are expected to have at minimum 1st class
honours (80%+ average) or the equivalent to 1st class honours.
Applicants
must present any of the accepted evidence to demonstrate English language
proficiency:
Ø IELTS
(academic module): Overall score (no band less than) 6.5 (6.0)
Ø TOEFL
Internet: Test score: 79 (Listening 19, Speaking 19, Reading18, Writing 22)
Ø Pearson
Test of English (PTE): Overall score (with no section score less than): 58-64

University of Cambridge – Advanced (CAE): Total score of 58
Ø VU
English – University Preparation UPP (Postgraduate): Achieved
Ø English
Language School in Sydney (ELSIS) – EAP 2 (advanced): A grade
The
values of the scholarships are as follows:
The
Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) has a value of $25,849 while VU
Postgraduate Research Scholarship (VUPRS) has a value of $25,849. VU
International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (VUIPRS) awards $25,849 while
International Postgraduate Research Scholarship awards $25,849. VU Diversity
Postgraduate Research Scholarship (VUDPRS) has a value of $25,849 while
Vice-Chancellor’s Graduate Research Award has a value of $35,000
Procedures to apply for these scholarships
The mode of applying is electronically. Applicants need only
submit one application to be considered for a graduate research scholarship
commencing 2016. The applicants have to follow this procedure:

Application deadline
Receipt of scholarship application from international students
is expected to end on 30 September 2016 and 28 October 2016 for domestic
